English Placement Test 1
20 – 30 minutes
The English Placement Test 1 is a free quick English level test that you can take online at up2dateSKILLS.com.
The test consists of 50 questions in a multiple-choice format. The test will mostly put your vocabulary, grammar and idioms to the test. For every question you are given 4 answers to choose from; however, there is only one correct answer. If you don’t know the answer or if you are not sure, don’t look for any additional information source. Instead, tick the box ‘I’m not sure’. It’s very important to be honest about this in order to get a genuine score.
Here are some of the benefits of taking this online test:
- you can take the test whenever and wherever is best for you;
- you can check your score immediately after finishing the test.
After you have submitted your answers you will be given an approximate indication of your English level. You will be given a score out of 50. Your score will relate to a CEFR language level grade:
1 to 10 – Level A1 – Breakthrough (beginner)
11 to 20 – Level A2 – Waystage (elementary)
21 to 30 – Level B1 – Threshold (pre-intermediate)
31 to 40 – Level B1+ – Threshold (intermediate)
41 to 49 – Level B2 – Vantage (upper-intermediate)
50 – Level B2 – Vantage (upper-intermediate) – or higher!
It is important to note that this is a multiple-choice test and should only be used as a guide for your English competence level. An accurate assessment of your level needs to include listening, reading, writing and speaking.
This is a FREE online test that you can take at up2dateSKILLS.com. You don’t need to print any worksheets to complete your tasks.
