up2dateSKILLS summary
An elevator pitch is an extremely brief, catchy and somewhat persuasive sales speech where you offer something specific, such as yourself, your services, an idea, a product or a business project. Selling something is not usually the point. The point is to spark interest in whatever you are pitching. The term “elevator pitch” derives from the idea of having to impress a senior executive while using an elevator/lift to move from one floor to the other. Since it is meant to be about the length of a ride in an elevator, it should last somewhere between 30 to 40 seconds. Although is called “elevator pitch”, you can deliver one almost anywhere.
